Offshore medical examinations NOGEPA and OGUK certified
Are you active in offshore, shipping or inland navigation? Then you must periodically undergo a mandatory medical examination. Because offshore and maritime workers face high health and safety risks, their physical and mental health is of great importance. These include, for example, workers on a drilling platform or on an offshore wind farm, as well as captains, mates, machinists and sailors.
For offshore, the NOGEPA and/or OGUK guidelines apply. The Dutch offshore guidelines are determined by the Dutch Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Association (NOGEPA). The English offshore guidelines are set by the English OGUK. Our NOGEPA- and OGUK-certified medical doctors carry out the examinations at the times you require.
Our certified medical doctors carry out the boater examinations in accordance with the inspection guidelines of the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT).
General content of the medical offshore examinations
The purpose of an offshore or boating examination is to identify your health risks and physical abnormalities. They are used to determine whether you are allowed to work on board a drilling platform or ship or on an offshore wind farm. You will fill in a questionnaire beforehand. You take this with you to the medical examination, which is carried out by a medical doctor. He or she will do a physical examination, measure your blood pressure, height and weight. He or she will check your eyes and ears and examine your urine.
Depending on the kind of examination, upon approval you will receive a medical certificate, a stamp in your safety logbook, or the Maritime Medical Certificate (geneeskundige verklaring voor de zeevaart).
